Pintlore Terms of Use

Effective date: October 12, 2026

1. Acceptance and Eligibility

By creating an account or using Pintlore, you agree to these Terms. You must be of legal drinking age in your country (21+ in the United States) to use Pintlore. If you don't meet this requirement, don't use the app.

2. Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Let us know at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. The Shared Catalog and Your Content

Pintlore's beer catalog is built collaboratively — when you add or edit a beer entry (name, brewery, style, ABV, hops, photo), it becomes part of a shared catalog visible to and editable by other signed-in users. By submitting anything to the catalog, you grant Pintlore and its users a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and use that content within the app, and you confirm you have the right to share it (e.g., you took the photo, or it's a product photo you're allowed to use). Your diary notes stay yours and are never shown to other users. Your ratings appear anonymously in the catalog and, by name, to the groups you join (see Section 4).

4. Groups

Groups let you share ratings with people you choose.

  • Display name. You choose a display name (2 to 24 characters) to use in groups. It doesn't have to be your real name, but it can't be offensive, misleading, or impersonate someone else. We may change or remove a display name that breaks this rule.
  • What members see. Members of a group can see each other's display names and star ratings (with dates), as described in the Privacy Policy. They can't see your notes.
  • Joining. Anyone with a group's invite code can join, up to 12 members per group, and you can be in up to 5 groups. Only join groups, and only share invite codes, with people you're comfortable sharing ratings with. You can leave a group at any time and sharing stops right away.
  • Owners. The person who creates a group is its owner. Owners can remove members and replace the invite code; if an owner leaves, ownership passes to the longest-standing member. Owners are members like anyone else, not Pintlore staff, and Pintlore isn't responsible for what happens between members of a group.
  • Group names are held to the same standard as display names.

5. Prohibited Conduct

Don't use Pintlore to:

  • Upload content that's illegal, infringing, abusive, or misleading.
  • Submit deliberately false or vandalized catalog entries.
  • Choose a display name or group name that is offensive, hateful, or impersonates someone else.
  • Harass, pressure, or target another member, or add people to a group or share its invite code in a way the group wouldn't want.
  • Encourage excessive, dangerous, or underage drinking.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or private data.

6. Reporting Content

If you see a catalog entry, photo, or member name that shouldn't be there, use Report in the app (on a beer's page, or next to a member in a group), or email [email protected] with details. We review reports and may remove content, names, members, or groups, or suspend accounts.

7. Responsible Drinking

Pintlore is a personal diary and discovery tool. It does not sell, deliver, or encourage the purchase of alcohol, and nothing in the app should be read as promoting excessive consumption. Please drink responsibly.

8. Third-Party Data

Some beer information comes from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License (ODbL) and Creative Commons (CC BY-SA) for content. Product names, brand names, and label imagery may be trademarks of their respective owners; Pintlore uses them only for identification purposes.

9. Disclaimers

Pintlore is provided "as is." Catalog information is user-submitted and may be inaccurate — we don't guarantee the accuracy of beer names, ABV, styles, or any other catalog data. Group ratings and suggestions reflect only what your group members have rated. Pintlore isn't liable for decisions made based on app content, including anything related to alcohol content or consumption.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent allowed by law, Pintlore and its developer aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

11. Termination

We can suspend or terminate accounts, and remove display names, members, or groups, that violate these Terms. You can stop using Pintlore and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy for how).

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
